I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Manhattanville College with a triple major in Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry (GPA: 3.90). I am currently pursuing my M.S. in Mathematics at New York University (NYU) (GPA:3.85). I tutor math, biology, physics, chemistry, English as as a Second Language, and Spanish. I also have ample experience in standardized test preparation, especially SAT, SAT II's, ACT, GRE, and Regents Exams. I have worked for: NYU America Reads / America Counts; StudyPoint, Inc.; The Princeton Review, Inc.; White Plains Public Library; Portchester Carver Center; and Manhattanville College's Academic Resource Center, STEP, and Chemistry Department.
Personal Statement
I enjoy tutoring because I help my students actually apply and understand abstract concepts. I love it when my students reach the "AHA!" moment when dealing with complicated mathematical formulas. It reminds me of how much I enjoyed taking classes with my college advisor and the satisfaction I got from mastering a new topic. I also like to help my students become fluent in a new language by making sessions fun and challenging. For instance, they need to practice saying: "El carro rojo corre rapidamente por las calles de Rio de Janeiro".
