Personal Statement
I am currently working towards a 900 hour service term for AmeriCorps UCAN Serve program. This will earn me a $2600 scholarship, and I have to say it has been a blast. I started tutoring some students at a local Junior High this March, and they seem to enjoy their moments of success when they get a concept. I have mainly been tutoring math, although I could go for English, ESL and Spanish. I have been hired to begin working for Weber State University as a Math Tutor, and will attend a Tutor Training Course to earn certification. As my major is Computer Science, I believe that problem solving is a major factor in this field, and tutoring will ensure the validity of my understanding of the subjects I tutor, especially math. I am currently taking Calculus and am enjoying it. I hope the students I help will end up enjoying the subjects I help with.
