"I am qualified to teach SAT Math, Critical Reading, and Writing and Math up to Algebra 2. Currently, I attend Montgomery High School, but am willing to travel quite far. I prefer to teach at libraries, and I generally require a minimum of a 2 hour lesson. I allow up to 2 people to take the class at once, with my rates being $25 per person per hour and $20 per person per hour for 2 people. I prefer to keep my classes small to be able to give each student individual attention and to be able to focus in on each of their problems. I have experience helping out my peers with math and with their SAT prep. I have also been tutoring for a big prep company, and, through this, have learned many tricks that I will be able to use with my students. While tutoring, I will allow my students to work on their problems and try to figure out a solution on their own, but if they get stuck, I will walk them through the problem. I have found this to be an extremely effective way to help my students increase their scores. I also encourage my students to bring specific topics that they know they have problems with, so i can walk them through their troubles and help them fix the errors they already know they have. As to my qualifications, I have scored a 2400 on my SAT (800 Critical Reading, 800 Writing, 800 Math) and know many tips and tricks and great books to use when tutoring. I also have a very large collection of Real SAT Tests that other tutors won't have and give me a leg up while teaching. While teaching SAT's, unless the students have specific questions, I will give them a real section to work on, and then help them through it and give them strategies to solve every problem they struggled on after they have completed the section. Through this method, the student will be able to see how their score has increased through every lesson. I will also give them vocabulary lists and problems to complete at home outside of class at the student's request. In order to teach my students math (up to Algebra 2), I ask that the student bring their textbook and homework assignments with them. This will allow me to see the types of problems they need help with and recognize gaps in their knowledge. By doing this, I will be able to give each student individualized attention and help them in ways the school can't with 20 students per teacher, so they should see an immediate and noticeable jump in scores on tests." less...
