Personal Statement
I tutor because I enjoy teaching and don't mind giving up time I could be using in my law practice to encourage people to better themselves. I work equally well with children and adults. My underlying philosophy is that learning should be fun, and, if it isn't, I'm probably not teaching as well as I should. I love learning and I hope to impart that love to my students.
I've been tutoring casually for over ten years, specializing in algebra, the sciences and English and, most recently, law. I've tutored younger students in pre-algebra and algebra over instant messengers on the internet and I've gone to the homes of Korean kids to help them with their English (vocabulary, diction, listening, reading and writing). I've edited English language scientific papers for Korean researchers and successfully rendered them readable without interfering with the sense of their data and the results of their research. I have also tutored a Korean law student and helped him with his English and his understanding of US law. Please note: I do NOT speak Korean, though I have, over the years, developed an understanding of their sometimes unique habits and problems with respect to the English language.
I am a member in good standing of the Missouri bar and the US Patent Bar and am more than competent to help with any course work or even bar preparation.
