Personal Statement

I have been educated to teach English Language Arts with a Trans B Dual Certification for grades 6-12 through a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at SUNY empire. My undergraduate degrees are from St. John’s University, which include an A.A.S. in Business Administration and a B.S. in Marketing. Simultaneously, I obtained a Dean’s Certificate of High Scholarship of Achievement in the field of Marketing. I am a Licensed Real Estate Agent; Certified Makeup Artist/Color Analyst and studied ballet for ten years. As a former marketing executive, with over 20 years of business experience in the corporate world, I have held various positions in diverse capacities in management, in the areas of advertising, marketing, public relations, sales and writing for leading organizations. In addition, I have extensive experience with teaching in front of a classroom in various arenas, these include: elementary and middle school (subjects being English Language Arts, Art, Computers, Science, French, and Social Studies); Religious Education for grades 3-6; Marketing and Sales, Computers, and Ballet to all ages. As I have been making the transition from the business world to the world of academia, I have engaged in various teaching capacities: substitute teaching for grades 1-8; created a curriculum and taught a Business Writing course for Adult Continuing Education at Carmel High School; and taught CCD (Religious Education) since 2001, for grades 3-6. In addition, I recently created a new exercise program that I plan to teach at my local high school's Continuing Education program. I live in Carmel, New York with my husband and we have two sons. As a former writer in the business world, one of my areas of expertise is the production of reports for both business and in the world of academia. Because of my diverse background, I can tutor in the following areas: English Language Arts, grades 6-12; social studies, writing, reading, ballet, computers, cosmetics, art, marketing and science.
