Personal Statement
Learning never ends.
I graduated with an Associate's of Arts and Sciences degree in 1997, a Bachelor's of Science degree in 2000 and have now returned to school to study psychology and earn a second Bachelor's degree (2012). In between, I worked as a public and private forestry consultant, though my passion has always been education.
My tutoring style is laid back, and my students are at ease when learning with me. I believe a calm atmosphere is most conducive to learning.
A list of expectations will be handed the student before our first tutoring session in a free pre-tutoring interview. At this meeting, I will learn about my students' learning style by asking a series of questions and I grant the student the opportunity to do the same of me so that he can learn something about my teaching style. Getting to know each other is fundamental to a successful student/teacher relationship.
My experience includes being an academic aide for Disabled Student Services (University of Montana), and then teaching environmental science locally with the Florida Division of Forestry, 4-H and the Levy, Gilchrist and Dixie Soil and Water Conservation District. Along with my degrees, I hold an eligibility for teaching certification in middle grades science (grades 5-9).
Thank you for taking a look at my profile, and I look forward to hearing from you as you search for a tutor.
