Education and Qualifications

I have a Bachelor (2:1) in English Literature and a Masters Degree in Linguistics from a well regarded UK University. I also have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Leicester University) and am a fully qualified English and Media Teacher, with several years teaching and tutoring experience in the UK. I have completed the 1st year of my PhD in Education from the University of California Santa Cruz and have experience working as a TA on the Education courses. Other subjects I studied as an undergraduate and graduate student, include History, Sociology, and Law. My studies included writing essays, examinations and dissertations.

Personal Statement

I have experience teaching and tutoring Education, English Literature, Creative Writing and English Language to students aged 4 to 25 years. I value the opportunity to teach and tutor individuals of all ages, and am always researching new techniques and best practices in teaching and tutoring, so that I am able to provide the best learning experience for my students. I want each individual whether it is a four year old learning to read and write or a graduate student writing their thesis to benefit from a tutoring session. For the past 10 years, I have worked as an examiner for various exam boards including the Cambridge International Exam Board, which is used in many independent schools. My experience as an examiner enables me to clearly understand what is required of a student for them to achieve an A or A* grade. This is very beneficial to any potential students sitting the Cambridge International Exam IGCSE. Finally, I have experience as a practitioner of Dance Write, which is an active form of learning to write through dance movements. This is a highly innovative way of learning for pre-school / kindergarten children who are learning to write.
