Personal Statement

I am a senior in the elementary education program at BYU. I would love to help your child whether it is to get ahead, master a personally challenging subject, or simply get homework done and learn study skills. I have tutored many times in the past in paid and volunteer positions, both on a one-on-one basis and in groups. Along with my personal experience and training, I have access to tons of resources, research, and other professional advice that I will use if I think it will help your child. I am passionate about tutoring and get very excited creating individual plans to help a child best. I also believe firmly in involving the parent and letting him/her have a lot of say in how their child is tutored since you know best what your child needs. I can tutor all elementary school subjects well, but am most passionate about history and reading. I have the most experience tutoring math at elementary and high school levels. My dad is a physics professor and it is also a subject I have studied a lot, so I can tutor up through high school level physics easily. I can also tutor for the ACT and SAT as well as other high school and middle school subjects. As for music I played the tuba and saxophone in high school and would feel very comfortable tutoring saxophone lessons up through an early high school level (I would charge less than the regular rate since I don't have my own instrument to demonstrate on). I have also taught other instruments at the beginning level such as the piano, clarinet, and trumpet which I could do again if you'd like.
