Personal Statement
I just recently graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with my B.S. (2010) and M.S. (2011) on a full ride Department of Defense Scholarship, and moved down to Utah to fulfill my end of the scholarship deal (a 1 year of post-graduation work per 1 year of tuition). I am currently an Aerospace Engineer at Hill AFB.
I have been tutoring since I was in high school in subjects ranging from English to various science courses (mostly Chemistry), and Math (prealgebra to differential equations). In high school I excelled in my AP courses and was awarded Math, English, Spanish, and Athlete of the year awards my senior year.
In college I was Dean's Listed every semester and graduated with a 3.8GPA (had to have a little fun while I was there). I tutored mainly in math and engineering, with the occasional chemistry request. The last two years I volunteered as a tutor at the math lab when I had time.
I am not here to do someone's homework for them. I will sit down and ask them questions, letting them think before I give too much input. I expect the student to read the book before tutoring sessions, saving them money and time. I am more than happy to clarify any questions and will do my best to have the student leave with a full understanding, not just the right answers.
There are numerous courses I had attended in ACT and SAT preparation that have carried on through my collegiate years that help me analyze questions, and find the best answer in minimal time. I am willing to pass on these instruments to my students to aid them in standardized testing.
If a student is looking for someone to help with writing papers, I have no problem having them emailed to me so that I can review and edit them. We can meet and go over the edits.
Hope to hear from you!
