Education and Qualifications

I have a Masters Degree and minor in Remedial Reading and English. With these two areas of expertise I have attended conferences and on line university classes. In addition, I have taught Adult english as A second language for six years in a Community Learning Center, and organized and instituted volunteer classes that were well received and resulted in being paid for these Conversation Classes at the Somerset County Library System. This has proved to be welcomed by learners as a method of improving their everyday experiences in a concise, action-oriented activity with english as A second language, remedial readers, and literacy learners. Knowledgeable use of learning resources, both electronic and hard-copy to enhance their confidence and ability in English. I am competent with Microsoft Office applications and how they apply to training environments. Avid Internet researcher for new and interesting classroom tools are very important to me. Ability to work successfully with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds is of interest to me on the job. Being a successful passionate teacher in motivating students in classrooms, conversation classes, and personal tutoring situations have been my goal. My successes in witnessing excitement and motivation has been most encouraging and I look forward to an opportunity to share my expertise and love of lifelong learning with individuals and schools.

Personal Statement

My genuine interest in reaching out to speakers of all languages has proven to be successful in exceptionally meeting the needs of my students. With encouragement, practice, self confidence building, I have seen beginners move into advanced ESL classes, vocational or other private schools, and even college institutions, and/or gain meaningful employment. My expertise is in teaching English as a Second Language and facilitating conversation classes, Adult Training, Remedial Reading Instructing, Career Counseling, Special Education, and Instructional Design Education expertise. As a dedicated educator, I have been known for my genuine commitment to students, teaching, and professionalism. I work well with individuals or groups to ascertain skills and levels in designing programs to meet their knowledge and professional needs. Proven success in building and continued partnerships and community in the classroom and after fulfilling learning center completion requirements. The students and I have met monthly for a year after the classes have ceased with 70 - 80% attendance.
