Personal Statement
Ciao! My name is Gary and I am a senior at Iona College. My major is International Business and my minor is Italian! Growing up in an Italian family, I have always been proud of my heritage. In order to learn the "correct" way to speak Italian (mainly because my parents decided to speak to me in English), I entered an honors Italian course in the 8th grade, scored a 100% on the regents exam, and continued my journey in perfecting the Italian language through numerous honors and AP courses. During the fall semester of 2010, I studied abroad in Florence, Italy for 4 months, where speaking Italian every day pretty much became second nature!
Now that I am back in the United States and currently completing my last course for my Italian minor, my goal is to share this beautiful language with others who are eager to learn and improve! If you are just beginning, I can tutor you in the basic conjugations (presente, passato prossimo, futuro semplice), and from there, we can advance to the more complicated conjugations (imperfetto, passato remoto, congiuntivo), direct/indirect pronouns, formal/informal commands, and basic conversation. For more advanced Italian students, we can practice more in-depth conversational criteria as well as writing and reading skills. There are NO limitations. I will be more than happy to assist you in ANY aspect of Italian that you need help in. My goal is to keep you ahead of the class and to clarify any confusion in the easiest way possible!
