Personal Statement
Something about myself: I grew up just north of Boston and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where I double-majored in German literature and psychology. In my senior year I had the opportunity to be an exchange student at Freiburg University in Germany, where I met my wife who is a native German. Once there, I decided to stay and enrolled in the graduate department for German Literature at Freiburg University. I then transferred to the noted department of Modern German Literature at the University of Munich, where I completed my M.A. in Modern German Literature. As part of my studies in Munich, I minored in Germanic linguistics and psychology. In addition, I currently maintain an academic reading knowledge of Dutch and Norwegian, which I learned while studying in Germany.
After completing my degree, I returned to the U.S., and have been living here since 2007. I speak German every day with my wife, and often with other native German friends, and I am fluent in the language. As a native-born American, I am very familiar with the early struggles of learning German grammar. Whatever your current level or interest, I can definitely help you study German, improve your grammar skills, and assist you in achieving higher grades. I can work closely with any school or college text you are using and help with homework assignments assigned by your teachers or professors. As long as you put in a little time, learning German can be fun, easy, and very rewarding. I hope to meet you soon!
