Personal Statement

Welcome to my Tutoring page! My name is Naomi and I specialize in teaching Japanese. I am a native speaker of Japanese and English and I have over ten years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels in groups, private lessons, and in universities. I am a highly motivated, creative and versatile instructor and I work with you to create the best curriculum to meet your individual needs. My Background: I was born and raised in Northern Japan, where I attended Japanese schools, until I came to the United States for college and graduate school. I was raised in a bilingual household, where my siblings and I would be immersed in Japanese at school, and our English-teacher mother would tutor us in English at home. Having come from such a household myself, Japanese bilingual education is another one of my specialties. I offer lessons in: formal/casual Japanese conversation college-level Japanese pronunciation reading and writing culture and more, customized to the student’s specific needs.
