NORTH suburban high school august ’06 to Present under contract ’10-11 and tenured teacher status
position: Full Time H.S. french teacher
Duties: I am teaching French II, III, and IV. Nearly all of my students are in the college studies track and at the higher levels we read short stories, a novel, and other French texts and media. We use the newest Holt, Rinehart, Winston Allez, Viens French with all of the ancillary material for French 2 & 3. It has been a wonderful program for myself and the students. I have 2 sections of French 3 and 2 of French 4. In our second semester for the 3rd and 4th year of French we read, analyze and assess students on a full length novel. For the one section of French 2 we use the Allez, Viens level 2 and ancillary materials. I have had numerous successful formal observations by the chairperson of the World Language and ELL department. The school has a very multi cultural population, and 5 years of language are offered including AP. My beginning students have adapted well to learning French as there are many Hispanics. I use technology on an almost daily basis and teach from a very audio-visual approach. The DVDs which have dialogues with speakers from the many regions of the French speaking world-Canada, France, Haiti, Africa, etc have been very contemporary, and engaging. The experience has been a very positive one. In addition I have coached students over the years who participated in the American Association of Teachers of French National French contest.
I am in my 13th year of Teaching French at the High School Level. When I was in undergraduate school, I did an internship teaching kindergarten children French. I have what is considered a near-native fluency in French.
Merci!
