Personal Statement
Offering lessons in Japanese linguistics covering introductory areas such as: written systems (Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji), vocabulary and verb conjugation (past, negative, past-negative, and honorifics). Lesson plans begin with an accelerated introduction to the Hiragana and Katakana written systems, while simultaneously building an introductory vocabulary. Each tutoring session will initially focus on review of previous Hiragana and Katakana, followed by an introduction to a minimum of 8 characters, but as many as 12, based on the student's performance and ability to distinguish between the 2 character classifications.
Experience with Japanese linguistics include: Language immersion programs at Ritsumaekan Daigaku (university) in Kyoto City and completion of Japanese linguistics courses at Northern Illinois University. My experience as a tutor has focused primarily on teaching introductory Japanese to college students in an effort to accelerate their progress through the Japanese linguistics courses.
