Ciao Tutti!
I love Italy; the language, the people, and of course the food! I have lived and traveled all over Italy various times since 2003. My first experience in Italy was as a high school exchange student with AFS (the American Field Service.) I lived in Torino, Italy from January to July of 2003, attended Italian high school and lived with an Italian host family. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I learned about the Italian culture and learned some of the language. My curiosity was peaked, so I decided to major in Italian studies at Gonzaga University.
As an Italian studies major, I spent my junior year abroad studying in Florence, Italy. It was also an amazing experience. I traveled around Europe and to various regions of Italy learning more about the people and the culture. I also strengthened my Italian language skills in grammar, reading, writing, and speaking.
In July of 2009, I took another shorter trip to Italy for 3 weeks. My fiance and I traveled from Rome to Sardinia to Sicily and various places in between. My fiance doesn't speak Italian, so I was the translator in many cases; especially in Sardinia where American tourists rarely venture. In fact, Sardinia has its own unique dialect, which is closer to Latin than Italian! There were various occasions where my extensive knowledge of Italian was very useful.
I am somewhat new to tutoring, but I will bring you and your student my wealth of experience of Italy and its language! I am a fun, enthusiastic, and flexible tutor. Parliamo italiano!
