Personal Statement
My name is Katrina. I have been a Spanish teacher for nine years. I am certified by the State of Florida to teach Spanish at the K-12 level. I attended Florida State University where I earned Bachelor's degrees in both International Affairs and Spanish. I also studied at la Universidad de Costa Rica in San José as part of FSU's study abroad program. I then went on to earn my Master's in Spanish with a concentration in second language acquisition, while teaching undergraduate Spanish courses at FSU. I have even taught as an adjunct a the community college level. I love working with students of all ages. I have worked hard to achieve near-native fluency and feel that my strength as a Spanish teacher lies within my ability to identify with the frustrations of non-native speakers and to encourage them that they, too, can master Spanish. I have experience teaching all levels of Spanish, from Spanish I thru AP Spanish Language and college-level Spanish. I am comfortable tutoring students who are enrolled in a class with an established curriculum and with providing study materials for those not taking a formal Spanish class. Whether you need help in an academic Spanish class or would like to learn and practice conversational Spanish, I am happy to help you. I fell in love with the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. The beauty of language is that you can use it for anything you are interested in-music, movies, literature, sports. I look forward to helping you use Spanish to meet your goals-whether it is passing a class or becoming fluent.
