Personal Statement
My name is Tyler, and I studied at Charnock Institute of the Bible for five years earning a bachelors degree in Divinity and a triple minor in Greek, Hebrew, and Church History. I have taken three years of Greek and Hebrew each as well as two of Latin; these languages I can teach with an emphasis on reading and understanding. Latin and Greek are a major portion of the foundation upon which English is built and studying them will improve your vocabulary and grammar as well as giving you an insight into ancient history. My education for Divinity has included classes on counseling, church history, hermeneutics, and theology, as well as a personal translation of the Bible from the original languages (Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic) into English.
Outside of the mainstream of my education I also have many skills which I can teach. I took two years of German with an emphasis on speaking, German is the other portion of the foundation of English. My linguistic skills are extensive as I have also done some personal study in French, Spanish, Italian, Old English, Welsh, Quenya, Japanese, and Chinese. My knowledge in these is by no means complete but it gives me a broad base to work from and great diversity in experience. According to my Elance proficiency test my vocabulary ranks in the top five percent in overall size and comprehension, I can also tutor basic grammar and writing. I have written a novel of over 600 pages as well as several short stories, creative writing, specifically fantasy and fiction is another area where I can teach.
