Education and Qualifications

I am a 5th grade teacher, and currently attending Graduate School to obtain a M.A. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction: Reading. I have taught for 9 years (6 years in CA and 3 in OR), multiple subjects in grades K-6. I also taught ESL for 5 years in CA.

Personal Statement

I am a lifelong learner and very excited about every opportunity I have to enhance my teaching abilities. I try my best to instill a love of learning in my students by making education fun and not overwhelming or stressful. If your child is behind or not working at grade level, please contact me! If a student is not at grade level by the 4th grade, chances are slim that he/she will have the opportunity to catch up. I taught first grade for 4 years and have had extensive training in teaching reading (decoding and comprehension). If your first grader is not able to read basic sight words or sound out simple unknown words, now would be the time to offer your child that little extra support needed.
