Personal Statement

Hi my name is Jill. I am very happy to see that you are taking a very positive step toward your future. A little about my experience tutoring. I have a B.A. in adolescent psychology and I have been tutoring for 10 years now. I began tutoring because my son needed some extra help in school. He needed the one on one attention that comes with being a tutor to fully understand his academics. After a month of tutoring my son his grades improved greatly along with his confidence in himself. After tutoring my son I realized that helping students achieve their academic goals is what I wanted to do as a career. I began tutoring elementary grade students and not before long I was asked from my supervisor if I would like to have my own REACH Classroom to tutor all grades. I accepted this wonderful opportunity and within 2 weeks I had 26 students I was tutoring on a daily basis. I tutor Middle school and High school. The subjects I am very comfortable tutoring are: Language Arts, Math, History, Science. I absolutely love my profession. To me a tutor must have a balance of Patience and Praise in order for the student to feel comfortable with their tutor. I can promise you that while you are learning with me you will be laughing and smiling as well. I am very easy to get along with, I have a sense of humor and I love the look on a students face when they finally realize that they understand what is being taught to them. I look forward to teaching you.
