Personal Statement
Hi,
I am from China and have spoken Mandarin since I was born. As you can see from my profile title: I can speak standard Mandarin. There is a truth: most people cannot speak standard mandarin in China. There are several reasons: 1. Mandarin originates from areas around Beijing which are small compared with the whole of China. 2. Even if you were born in Beijing, it doesn't necessarily mean you are capable of speaking Mandarin without an accent. Most people in Beijing speak Mandarin with a Beijing accent which is different from standard Mandarin spoken by people such as TV-hosts.
I was born in a capital city of a northern province which is nearby Beijing and moved to Beijing during high school. Although I don't have a certificate to prove my mandarin, I am a fluent Mandarin speaker. I am currently a MBA student at UT, so my time schedule is flexible. I am familiar with everything in China, so I am sure I can provide an excellent Mandarin teaching service for you!
