Personal Statement

My experience includes tutoring two students in pre-calculus, which started on 1/17/09, one student in physics started 3/1/09, and one student in chemistry started 2/20/09. I have three years' experience at the University level tutoring in calculus and physics (University of California, Irvine). I was a graduate student instructor in a course called "Crystallography and Bonding of Materials" (University of California, Berkeley), where I won the award for outstanding graduate student instructor. My college GPA was 3.8 and my graduate school GPA was 3.7 at the third ranked school for materials science in the country. I have a master's degree in materials science from the University of California, Berkeley. I have a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from University of California, Irvine. Additionally, I held industrial positions in the field of engineering, including a recent process engineering position at Lam Research Corporation in Fremont. Lam is the leading supplier of etch tools to the semiconductor industry. I thoroughly enjoy teaching young students and improving their study skills. I'm passionate about science and engineering, and would like to pass these skills to others who may one day choose a scientific career.
