Personal Statement

Hi all. My name is Olena. Currently I am honors student in Hunter College, majoring in Biochemistry (Pre- Dentistry) and Minoring in Economics. I first started working with children when I was fifteen years old as a summer camp counselor and later volunteered in a private tutoring service, prior to tutoring on my own. As part of my education, I have become well antiquated with the natural sciences (Chemistry, Biology, and Physics), however, Math and English are my strengths. Besides tutoring in base subjects, I tutor for the SAT, ACT, SAT II (Math 1 & 2 and English), Regents Exams (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), SHSAT, and State Exams (Science, English and Math). I try to promote skills which students can apply to every area of study, regardless of which subject I am tutoring. For example, while teaching math, I incorporate applications in biology, chemistry, physics, and economics. I also emphasize proper grammar, punctuation, and syntax in every subject that I tutor. In addition to this, I promote good work ethic and study skills into my lessons. My goal is to benefit every single one of my students as much as possible by customizing each tutoring session to suit each student individually. I hope I can be of assistance to you.
