Personal Statement

My name is Mira. I am 40-years-old, with a degree in nursing, a mother of three girls with tons of experience working with children. Currently, I am an honor student at the University of Rhode Island pursuing my lifelong dream to become a math teacher. Throughout my life, I have excelled in school, especially in math and sciences. Teaching math to children of all ages comes easy to me. I am friendly, kind, and creative person, always trying to find the strengths of the student in order to help him excel in math and in any other academic area. My favorite subjects are pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and elementary functions. I have tutored kids in elementary, middle and high school, as well as students in college at CCRI. I can also tutor children in their reading, spelling, writing, and social studies to improve their study skills or just to practice before exams and boost their grades in school. I have organized home-based summer math camps at my house, where my own children and their friends enjoy learning math and keep their skills sharp during the summer break. I am flexible and can be available on "as needed" basis or regularly, once a week or multiple times a week, depending on the needs of the student. I can follow the school curriculum or offer my own teaching method and practice materials. I have great references and will be glad to hear from you.
