Personal Statement

I am a native Italian, who grew up speaking both Italian and English in the home. I was schooled in Switzerland, where I continued with my Italian studies and also started French. After I left Switzerland, I was sent to England where I finished high school,all along following the English school system. After graduating high school I was accepted to the School of Languages and Linguistics at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. There I majored in medieval French and Italian literature (studying all the greats such as Dante, Petrarca etc.) and I minored in Renaissance Italian art. While I was at Georgetown I was also hired by the Italian dept. to tutor students, As a TA (teachers assistant), I also taught conversational Italian to some of the classes. I graduated with a BS in languages and linguistics.. As an Italian tutor I can not only offer my students my knowledge of the language but also my knowledge of the art, literature and culture of the country. I have a home in Italy and extended family in the country so I travel there often, which allows me to keep in touch with there culture and current events. More recently I have tutored students who attend Brookdale and Monmouth University. Additionally, I have prepared people for their first trip overseas, tutoring them in the language and offering them my experience and knowledge of the country and the great works of art that Italy has to offer.
