"I earned my graduate degree in Public Administration from Virginia Tech in May 2013 and graduated with a GPA of 3.73. I focused on Policy Analysis and spent my third year (one full academic year) studying an economic problem related to the housing market. Particularly, my professional paper was centered on the financial remediation policy for redressing foreclosure violations that affected servicemembers in the United States. Upon graduation, I was offered a job as a Quality Assurance Analyst at a Big 4 bank, in which I examine and audit Line of Business operations with regards to mortgage banking processes. In my recent role, in which I transitioned into this month, I also have the autonomy to not only research and audit LOB operations, but to propose and enforce remediation plans/ policies.
My undergraduate studies were in Economics and Chemistry and graduated honors in both studies in August 2010. I had an interest in medicinal research and drug development, so I dedicated my time to understanding organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry along with conducting research on anti-sickling agents for Sickle Cell Disease. While in undergraduate school, I was a Supplemental Instructor for Physics I & II, and occupied this position for almost two years. I led a class of about 450 students every semester, and enjoyed explaining the theoretical concepts of Physics.
My main study in Economics exposed me to both applied and social science theories which allowed me explore diverse concepts that broadened my critical thinking and analytical skills. Notwithstanding, I graduated top 10% of my class with cum laude honors. While in undergrad, I concurrently completed an internship/ project that allowed me work on a confidential project that required the use of the latest imaging technology to design its prototypes. Moreover, I gained tremendous knowledge in financial analyses, prototype design, business plan, and research. Upon successful completion, I was able to render the existing product into one that fit the company's desired specification requirements for portability, compatibility, and conformity.
I have a diverse background in both social and applied science. I realized that my interest in applied science stemmed from my curiosity to want to explore unparalleled fields of study. I am glad that I excelled doing so. However, my greatest accomplishment has been in social science where I find economic theories and policy analyses both keen interests that apply to the labor market that influences everyone on a macro-level. I hope I have been able to show that my interest is in social science, and my curiosity was in applied science, which I both excelled in greatly. In future roles, I want to develop my experience in policy analysis as well as guide others in interested in the field.
