Personal Statement

Hello! I am a 29-year-old female with over 12 years of experience working with children ages birth to 18 years. I am a very energetic and positive person! I am a recent Cum Laude graduate from Florida Atlantic University, with a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education. My approach: I believe in a positive approach to learning. I praise children for the positives, and develop ways to fix problems. Children learn best when they feel confident about their abilities. This confidence will then help them develop skills needed to be a successful learner that is excited about learning. I absolutely love when a child has that "AH HA!" moment and they understand the material being taught! Positions I have held related to teaching/tutoring include: - Substitute teacher for Palm Beach County School District for grades K through 12. - Live-in nanny for a 9-year-old with learning disabilities. With my assistance, she raised her "C" grades to all "A's" by the end of the school year. - Completed first set of student teaching hours for Elementary Education degree. - Numerous hours of volunteering and observations in elementary, preschool, and middle school. - Extensive training and classes for helping young children succeed. How I can help your child: I will evaluate your child to determine their learning needs, current abilities, emerging skills, interests, likes, dislikes, and if needed behavioral needs. From there I can determine your child's developmental level in regards to their cognitive and language linguistic development. Along with tutoring, activities will be given to help your child continue to develop the emerging skills needed. For the middle school age students, tips and strategies will be given to help your child become organized, prepared, and successful in school. I will show all children and students how exciting learning can be. I will break things down to students in a way that is easy for them to understand, remember, and relate to. Any child can be successful in school, it sometimes just takes a different approach to learning for them to have that "Ah Ha!" moment!
