Personal Statement
I was born and raised in Italy in the region called the Marche The region is very historic - first Roman and then Indo-European tribes such as the Visigoths. The Renaissance painter Raffaello was born in the Marche in the city of Urbino where I too was born. I have enjoyed tutoring in my native language and would like to expand my experience by teaching you this wonderful language, Italian. Italian may be the world's most expressive language and I feel quite proud to be Italian and to speak the language of Dante, Michelangelo, Rossini, and Giuseppe Verdi. I was born and raised in the city of Raffaello, Rossini, and Roberto Rossellini and I have traveled throughout my country as well as Europe spending eleven years in Canada and the last thirty-four years in Florida.
I was trained in Europe as a master chef. Here in Florida I have been a restaurant owner and chef. I have had two successful restaurants and have met a diverse group of people from different countries who have come to make their home in the warm Florida sun. I have taught cooking classes in my restaurants which have been a lot of fun and brought much enjoyment for myself as well as for my student chefs. At present I am a private chef and I cook for a select group of clients and their guests. As a private chef I offer Italian-French cuisine cooked to order at the guests' houses. My clients are a diverse group of nationalities and culture which makes my job much more interesting... and fun!
I have been interested in teaching Italian ever since I arrived in North America. It is certainly one of the most expressive languages and actually fun to speak! Not only have I given Italian classes at my restaurants but also am presently teaching Italian one on one to three students. My students are all at different levels - one is a beginner, one at the intermediate level, and one is advanced - but regardless my approach is as much immersion as possible speaking and hearing Italian. My students learn about Italian culture-including of course the food!- and from reading poems and short stories by noted Italian authors as well as by listening to Italian songs including opera,
