B.A. in Communication Studies/ Spanish, expected May 2010 Current QPA: 3.89/4.00 Study Abroad, Granada, Spain Spring, 2009 Lived for four months with a Spanish family in the heart of Granada, taking advantage of the opportunity to learn about Andalusian culture through daily conversation and observation. Participated in classes taught in Spanish through the Center of Modern Languages of the University of Granada, covering a range of topics such as Spanish Civilization and Culture, Advanced Grammar, Oral and Written Production, Spanish History of the Modern Age, and History of Spanish Cinema. Pursued involvement in a local church, building relationships with youth and immersing myself in Spanish. Sought out activities and meetings hosted by the church. Traveled throughout Spain and Europe, taking in the cultures of Madrid, Seville, C³rdoba, Toledo, Rome, and various cities in Morocco. Children's team teacher in Dominican Republic Summer, 2005 Co-labored with cheerfulness and dedication on a student ministry team, working with underprivileged children in poverty-stricken villages for two weeks. Taught faith-based lessons energetically in Spanish to groups of village children, and led interactive group song times. Intentionally built relationships with youth attending the local school and churches, interacting with them in various group activities. Helped construct a cement roof for the school administrative building, and painted various school buildings at the center and in the villages. Took a developing world discovery trip to Costa Rica and Guatemala in 2005.
