Personal Statement

My names is James. I am from Chiefland, FL. I graduated from Chiefland and went on to go to college and Santa Fe College, and later on to Saint Leo University. I have also taken coursework classes at the Univerisity of Florida. I have taught for ten years. I started out at Micanopy Middle School where I was a Reading and Science Teacher, as well as a P.E. Coach. I then moved to Interlachen High School and taught there for 8 years as an ESE, Algebra, Biology, and Earth Science Teacher, as well as a football and weightlifting coach. From there I left and went to Union County as an ESE Teacher and football coach and finally I'm back home in Levy County at Williston High School as an ESE Teacher and football coach. If you do something you enjoy, you never work a day in your life. As a teacher and coach, I find that it is great benefit to have the opportunity to work with an individual one on one in any subject. Sometimes students get caught up in the everyday chaos of a classroom setting and do not get the necessary accommodations that he or she may need in order to be successful. We all learn at different rates and usually in different ways. And because we are built this way, sometimes people need additional help. Maybe taking notes is not your cup of tea. Or maybe listening to a lecture might not be adequate for your learning needs. As a teacher, I often find it very difficult to accommodate everybody's needs in the classroom at one particular time. This is where the tutoring sessions are most valuable. Now that student has the full attention of the instructor with no disruptions. I would like to think that this is where I can be most successful to a struggling student. Thank you for this opportunity.
