"I have twenty five years plus teaching at the RN level at a community college. I am a mastered prepared nurse educator. Passing nursing exams is not just about what you learned in nursing school -- it is about how you think. With expert critical thinking strategies and targeted practice, I can show you how to leverage your nursing content knowledge to think like a nurse to be successful on nursing exams.

My method of teaching and review is to use active creative teaching methods to remember critical concepts required to be successful in clinical and on exams. I work with students by providing a variety of examples and test questions until the student understands the concept. I provide students with questions and show them how to break the question down to clearly understand what the stem of the question is asking and then review why each a answer chosen is correct or incorrect. Students are required to come to a review session prepared to work and to demonstrate that they have studied the material. I begin the review session with asking the student to review their written list of questions about content that is confusing and needs clarification. Once these questions have been answered move on to questions about this content to make sure it has been clearly mastered. At the end of each lesson a five minute review of the lesson is provided and a written plan for the next lesson is established and agreed upon in order to maximize tutoring time.
