"Dear Students and Parents,
My name is Omid, and I graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with a major in Biological Sciences. I am currently a medical student and throughout the past six years, have tutored many students through Wyzant's platform and many more privately, for about 2900 hours in different subjects. I specialize in tutoring Physics, Chemistry, Bio, and Math (all in University and High school levels).
It's noteworthy to mention that I scored in the 99th percentile for the Chemistry/Physics portion of the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test), and the 90th percentile for Biology/Biochemistry.
Since I am a student as well, I know the points that teachers and professors emphasize on and ask questions of. I have the experience of tutoring kids and teenagers (9-18) and also college-level students (18-24), and all age groups have been great experiences for me. I believe in two-way communication between students and tutors, and I think that tutors need to understand how their students learn, and how they can be helped. In order to improve my tutoring skills, I always ask for feedback from my current students and try to deliver an excellent service that they deserve.
As for the sciences (physics, chemistry, bio, etc), I try to deliver the material in a way that students only memorize minimal info, and learn the rest. I do not believe in pure memorization, and try to connect the subject matter with everyday experience, so the students can have a better understanding.
I also spend a lot of time understanding computers and in the years 2010 and 2011, I was ranked number 1 in nationwide computer sciences Olympiads, so I feel comfortable teaching Windows too (I don't teach programming yet).
Thank you for reading this far! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.
I hope you have a great day and good luck.
Don't forget, I'm here to help!" less...
