"A little about me. I have a BA in Political Science and a JD in Law from Southern University In Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I have 5 years as a substitute teacher, 12 years as an office manager and 20 years of customer service experience. I will go the extra mile to make sure the children understand what is expected of them. I have worked with Club Z In-Home tutoring service hired by Lincoln Public Schools. I tutored in the areas of Math and reading (elementary grades). I work with my grand kids in the areas I tutor and they are all very good students with mostly A's and B's.

As far as tutoring, I have about 5 years experience. Most of my substitute teaching was in high school in the areas of English and math. I am a widow , mother of 2 daughters who gave me 5 grandsons.

I work with children with materials from their schools as well as flash cards and books. I play games to get them interested, give tests, correct papers. If errors are made, I try to get them to tell me why something is wrong.

I have worked with children from elementary to high school.

One of the main problems in reading is subject verb agreement and knowing how to write the plural of a word. I also work with pronunciation. If a child cannot pronounce a word, I ask him to try and pronounce it using phonics and if

he/she gets it wrong, I will correct him/her. I ask them to write stories to try and show how a paragraph, etc. should flow. Give The main thought and build from there.

In math, I find that children get division and multiplication mixed up, and they are the opposite of each other. I have worked with a lot of Latino's and have done flash cards to show the difference. I have also done time tables from 1-10 and just asked randomly, how much is 6x8 and then change to 8x6 to see if they really understand. I do basic addition and subtraction. I do division the same as multiplication. In addition and subtraction math, I start out with single digits and go to four digits, depending on grade of child. I review previous session hi" less...
