"I am semi-retired after 30+ years in journalism, including 23 years at The Post-Standard in Syracuse. During my career, I honed my writing, research, editing, reading, grammatical, spelling and many other English-related skills on a daily basis and I feel that that experience gives me excellent credentials to tutor students on related subjects. I am also a skilled computer user and especially like working with seniors who want to learn about the internet from a patient and understanding teacher.

Over the years, I was an occasional substitute teacher and during my newspaper career, I mentored a number of young journalists.

I believe my English and computer skills would be invaluable to students of any age, and I welcome the opportunity to tutor students in the sometimes complicated world of English, including ESL and ESOL. As you can see in my profile, I am also certified in a number of other subjects. I have worked extensively with Windows operating systems, including Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

I am also available to work with students in the art of successful proofreading (spelling, grammar, sentence structure, punctuation) of papers, reports, journals or stories.
