"I am currently a freshman at Johns Hopkins University, and I am double majoring in Applied Mathematics and Statistics and Economics at the Whiting School of Engineering. In high school, I was valedictorian and took many rigorous courses and AP Exams, including AP Computer Science A (5), AP Calculus BC (5), AP Macroeconomics (5), AP Microeconomics (Self studied, 4), AP US Government and Politics (5), AP Physics (3), AP US History (Self studied, 3), AP English Language and Composition (4), AP English Literature and Composition (4), AP Human Geography (4), AP Psychology (4), AP Statistics (5), and AP Chemistry (4). As a result, I earned the AP Scholar with Distinction Award twice. Additionally, I took Spanish all four years in high school, earning the prestigious National Spanish Exam Premio de Oro Award and Platinum Seal of Bilingual Proficiency in Spanish.
In high school, I have tutored through my school's Honor Society, which I was an officer for. I tutored math and economics classes online and in-person through a local tutoring community, where I explained difficult topics in simpler ways until my tutee did not only understand, but was able to teach it, improving their overall knowledge of key topics. Additionally, as my Student Government's Executive Vice President, I created our school's math tutoring program, where students of a math class could get free tutoring from previous students who succeeded in the class.
Personally, I have been tutoring high school students in subjects that I have recently taken, and I have been doing it for over two years. I prefer one-to-one sessions, but I am also open to teaching more students in a classroom/lecture setting. However, I am willing to adjust my teaching style as long as students are learning as much as they can." less...
