"I'm a proud native Texan, born and raised in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. After graduating from Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and minoring in English Literature, I heeded the call to pursue a career in public education at the secondary level. While in my first years as a classroom teacher, I was encouraged by my mentors and tutors to go further and receive my master's degree in Education and Supervision in order to be a campus instructional leader.

Even as a retired teacher and campus principal, I proudly maintain a heart-felt passion for the classroom and coaching/tutoring struggling students how to find their own paths for academic success. Seeing students reach the goal of achieving their high school diplomas as well as other life goals is the biggest joy in my professional life.

Not every student comes "pre-wired" to appreciate the importance of English Language Arts (ELA). That's where I step in. As a high school English Language Arts teacher in southern Dallas County here in Texas, I accepted the challenge to patiently teach students who had a difficult time with ELA and needed extra help to find academic success with this important subject. I assess the current strength of a student and build from there. Former students of mine have gone on to become successful individuals in the areas of education, medicine, law, the military, finance, and the trades.

The study of History and Government/Political Science has always fascinated me. I love bringing these subjects alive in order to demonstrate the connection of past events to contemporary situations. There are radio and tv channels and Hollywood movies devoted to these subjects and why they're important to all of us, which indicates why we all need to have an awareness of these subjects. As a student and teacher of History and Government/Political Science, I accept the challenge to help others understand and appreciate the importance of these subjects.
