"My name is Benjamin and I'm currently an Americorps Member proudly serving with City Year Baton Rouge at Celerity Dalton Charter School. I offer 1:1 interventions with low risk students, homework help, and coordinate after-school programs. I have a passion for education that I want to share with the world. I look to serve as a pioneer for male educators; which is a rarity in education today.

In my spare time, I write Spoken Word Poetry. I spend lots of my volunteer hours working with Forward Arts, Inc. Forward Arts is a non-profit organization that fosters and nurtures the creative abilities of children from 6-14yrs old. I grew up in that same program and it molded me into the man that I am today. This is why my passion for education is so potent. Education saved my life.

I work with 4th graders everyday Monday-Friday at Celerity Dalton Charter School. In my time there, I have pushed students to score in the 80 percentile on all of their Benchmark assessments. This was an amazing jump from where they started at the beginning of the year. I would like to take ALL the credit for their success, but the passion and drive that they have to be educated plays a major part in the necessary work that we do everyday. I believe that all children have this same passion. It just takes the right adult to expect better from them.

I played football for half my life. I'm 22 years old, and I played organized football from 4th grade, all the way up to college. I played Center for the Ragin Cajuns of UL-Lafayette for 1 year, but had to stop due to financial issues. Football is my favorite sport and one of my passions in life.
