"My love for teaching was ignited in high school by my teachers. I was always fascinated by their teaching abilities and how they challenged students to work to their full potential. After graduating from high school, I did not hesitate to enroll in college. Accounting, English, and typing (keyboarding)) were my favorite subjects in high school; therefore, choosing business education as my major in college was an easy choice. This love for business education remained with me as I pursued a master's degree.

Teaching was my passion for over 15 years. It was such a joy to be able to teach to students the very classes that I love in high school--English, keyboarding, shorthand, accounting, and business law. A calling in school administration as technology director, would take me from the classroom teaching students to training teachers to utilize technology as a tool in their instruction. This calling led me to pursue a degree in educational leadership. I remained in leadership until my retirement. Presently, I work in an after school program at a youth center of excellence. One of the main components of this program is "Homework Help"-- assisting elementary and middle school students with additional instructional activities.

I taught basic and business English in high school. The student would often tell me that I was teaching the class as if it was a college level class. The students were challenged to utilize their thinking skills and not rely solely on the textbook.

I believe that students should not only spell the words, but utilize them in their writing. This helps them to know the word rather than just spelling it. In addition, it develops writing skills.

I have taken several Microsoft training classes and I taught classes in the instructional technology program for teachers.
