"Hello, My name is Apolonio. I graduated from Tarleton State University and received my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. I currently have my Teachers Certification in English Language Arts/Reading. I have tutored on and off for family and friends and now currently having to tutor my own children with their school work.
I have been involved in classroom teaching for over 17 years which have included elementary students to Adult Learners. I currently work in the Education Field and have become very aware of how important tutoring can benefit students. The earlier you start tutoring, the better the results will be. I love seeing the "light bulb" go off when the student finally understands what they are trying to learn.
I was raised speaking both English and Spanish. Eventually, I wanted to learn a 3rd language and therefore decided to pursue American Sign Language. I dove right into Deaf Culture at the same time learning everything I could about the language.
My family and I have been involved in American Sign Language now for over a decade. I have lots of friends that have also learned American Sign Language therefore I am always trying to sharpen my own skills. I have received a Professional Instructor Certification through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
I have also been a part of a Foreign Language Instructor Course which teaches specialized techniques to help the student learn a foreign language much faster. I strongly feel that if you set your mind to something, then you can accomplish it. The hardest thing to do at times is to take the first step. I hope your first step to learning American Sign Language will be to contact me so we can get that second step going. I'm open to any suggestions that you or parents may have to help you learn more effectively. You must enjoy what you are learning in order to learn it well." less...
