"Hello! I am currently a 5th-grade teacher in Allen ISD. I have about 20 years of experience teaching grades 3-6, with a specialization in math and reading. I work to develop a positive learning atmosphere where taking risks and growing is the norm. I do this by making our learning time fun and engaging.

Outside of school, I have been married for 21 years and have two incredible kids. We love to compete, spend time exploring, hang out at the beach, and worship.

Does your child have a math phobia? Do they absolutely hate it? I am the person who can change that! I have a ton of experience helping struggling students fill whatever gaps they have. After I've figured out where their holes are, we work to build on this foundation. Math is all about patterns. Many kids have a fear of or dislike math, but once they understand that it all comes down to patterns, they're halfway to being successful in math class. I guarantee you that after a couple of sessions, you'll notice a HUGE difference in their attitude. A few sessions after that, you notice a HUGE improvement in their performance

I LOVE reading! I am an avid reader. I read lots of children's books. I try to stay up-to-date with current reading trends in children's literature. How can we allow an adult, charged with helping kids grow into readers, opt out of being a reader? My goal as a reading teacher is to help kids develop a "reading life". By that, I mean a child who has developed or is developing a lifelong habit of reading. This is a student who understands how to choose books and gets lots of reading done. They also understand what to do when problems crop up along the way. My specialty is working with kids who have developed a dislike for reading. I love the challenge of watching them grow into kids who actually enjoy reading!
