"Hello. I'm Diana. I'm originally from Michigan and have a Master's in Education with a concentration in English as a Second Language and a Bachelor's degree in Spanish from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Upon graduation, I moved to Venezuela and taught ESL to children, teens, and adults for 30 years. Since I returned to the US three years ago, I have been an ESOL Reading Instructor at Lone Star College, have also taught Beginner to Advanced ESL and Accent Reduction courses for several language companies, and tutored of reading language arts courses in Spanish and English.

I have extensive experience in accent reduction, having studied Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, and Linguistics at the University of Michigan and achieving bilingual fluency in Spanish. Due to this experience, I can easily diagnose the reason for a particular student's pronunciation difficulties and devise strategies to solve them. Many of these difficulties are the result of a lack of information about how the native speaker links words in the flow of speech and how to decipher confusing English spellings. As a result, the student acquires many learned mistakes in pronunciation. Once these things are explained, a student's pronunciation can improve dramatically.

I have a BA in Spanish from the University of Michigan. I am fluent in both spoken and written Spanish and have lived in a Spanish-speaking country for many years. I also have a Master's in Education with a concentration in English as a Second Language and many years of experience teaching students of all ages.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing students improve and excel, and having been a part of it. I believe that good teachers are born, not made.
