"I was born in Budapest, Hungary's capital. I went to school there for 11 years, after the 1956 Revolution I left Hungary. After serving 5 years in the US Army, I enrolled at Kent State University, transferred to the University of Pittsburgh, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Political Science. My post-graduate studies were at Indiana University where I earned my Doctorate in Uralic Studies/History. To finance my studies I worked through all those years in factories and off"
