My name is Jared and I have spent my career learning and teaching in the area of biochemistry. I did my undergrad and PhD graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh and my postdoctoral studies at Dartmouth College. I was an assistant professor at Indiana University and have logged 1000+ hours of tutoring students from across the globe online. Together I have 19+ years of experience teaching and tutoring students in biochemistry courses. When I am tutoring, my first goal is to establish an atmosphere for students to engage in active learning. I believe that planning specific objectives for individual tutoring sessions, which will provide students with a focus for the covered material. The experience of the student can be enhanced by my involvement in setting the tone for each session. I attempt to do this by being thoroughly prepared and organized, by demonstrating an other-oriented attitude, and by displaying an infectious excitement for the course content.

I won the Trustees Teaching Award through my 14+ undergraduate and graduate courses. Throughout these courses, I have provided countless hours of one-on-one tutoring in order for the students to gain a better and deeper understanding of the course content. My patience, proper guidance and intimate knowledge of the course material has been crucial for tutoring students through difficult biochemistry classes. My tutoring experience has also given me discernment to quickly identify the student's problems and rapidly provide answers to move them forward in the course.
