"I am a National Board Certified Early Childhood Generalist who has recently retired with 41 years teaching experience in Early Childhood Education. My special love is teaching reading, and especially math, to young children.

In 1998, I was selected as the national winner for the state of South Carolina of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching in the area of Elementary Mathematics. Since I served on the Instructional Materials Review Committee for Elementary Mathematics Curriculum, I have access to a remediation/intervention program to promote the learning of math grades K-3. I also have had intense training in the area of reading. I was a three-year member of the South Carolina Reading Initiative, which provided me with proven methods to assist children in learning to read and write.
