"Hello, my name is Sravani Mylavarapu. I graduated from University of California, Merced with a Biological Sciences degree and a minor in Psychology. Throughout my college career, I learned to perfect my time management and organization skills in order to become successful. This included attending office hours provided by teaching assistants and professors to stay on top of the material. I was able to understand what was expected of me by being in close contact with professors and teachers so I could direct my learning appropriately. I used this knowledge to perfect my test scores over time and become more confident as I finished receiving my degree. I would like to spread this knowledge by being a tutor as I can help with the study material as well as provide tips in order to be a great student. Since I have been in the position of a struggling student before, I can connect with a student and help them understand what they need to know in order to improve test scores and become adept over time. I will create lesson plans which are appropriate for each student as well as the subject matter to ensure that the best system is available.
I will ensure to find the student's strengths and weaknesses in order to create a lesson that can be catered to them. Also, I will be open to taking feedback from students as well as parents to fine tune my approach for teaching. Finally, I will work hard to see changes and success in the students and will put in effort in order for that to happen." less...

I have some teaching experience, from a few years, when I volunteered in an elementary school tutoring company called MPM. I worked with children in a one on one basis as well as a group setting to teach them basic math skills using prepared worksheets. I worked with a variety of students and was placed in challenging situations in which I had to cater to the attention span and learning ability of the student, but at the same time provide a safe learning environment. Thus, I will be able to work with children successfully given that I will learn their learning style and challenges in order to help them better.
For my biological sciences degree, I took a large variety of courses varying in challenge level, exam type, and subject matter. These courses include molecular cell biology, cell biology, immunology, and neurobiology. Initially, the exams of lower division biology classes consisted of multiple exams, however, as the classes progressed written exams became the norm. Thus, I will be able to help students apply concepts for both test types and focus on important long-lasting concepts for biological sciences.
For my psychology minor, I took many classes that explained the basic concepts of psychology, initially, then branched off into specific fields such as abnormal child psychology, positive psychology, and clinical psychology. I was able to gain a micro and macro understanding of the core of psychology and how it is applied to various subjects and the medical field. I took many multiple choice exams, wrote essays, and attended psychology surveys as part of the credit for the course. I learned how experiments are run, what it needed for them, and why it was needed for a successful experiment. Thus, I have a comprehensive knowledge of psychology and the fields associated with it.
In college, I took numerous writing courses from basic writing classes to scientific writing which involved larger amount of research. I am skilled in editing and proof reading as I did it for myself for teacher-reviewed essays and for my peers. I am also skilled in grammatical error editing as well as proper formatting such as MLA, APA, and Chicago styles. I am familiar with researching with the use of databases such as JSTOR and googlescholar. These resources were helpful in my upper division writing class in which a grand proposal was required for the course. I will be able to help students to learn to use those databases, cite them, as well as incorporate the information successfully into a scientific essay.
I am adept in teaching Algebra 1 as it was one of my favorite courses in college and middle school. I learned the concepts of linear systems and functions. I will be able to help through word problems which need to turned into mathematical expressions and equation solving.
