"I am a child-centered elementary teacher looking to find a few more students to round out my tutorial schedule. I graduated from UT at Austin in 1988 and obtained my teacher certification the following year. I have 25 years of teaching experience in grades Prek-2nd. I also teach summer school for students who are performing below grade level in grades 1 through 3. I love working with kids and feel it is so important that a tutor take the time to pinpoint what is causing a child difficulty in school. Typically, I will do some type of diagnostic assessment (phonics, math, etc). to try and pinpoint the areas where the most progress can be made. I recently completed a two year long Orton Gillingham course and am now certified as a Dyslexia Interventionist. I also believe in parent communication and like for parents to know what their child is working on in tutorials so they can follow up at home. My tutoring sessions are a combination of hands on activities and guided practice. I'd love to meet you and your child and see if we would be a good fit!" less...
