"What I love about tutoring is helping my students achieve their goals and seeing them become more confident as they succeed. I'm a former Montgomery County Public School teacher who loves to help students find success in their studies. I'm certified as an English Teacher by the state of Maryland. I have an undergraduate degree in English language and literature from Denison University. I completed my graduate teaching coursework in the Teachers 2000 certificate program at George Washington University in Washington, DC. This was a wonderful program that gave me the tools and understanding I needed to become an effective teacher.

I started my teaching career in the Teacher's 2000 joint program with George Washington University and MCPS in 1996. I have over twenty years of teaching and tutoring experience with students in elementary, middle and high school. I have tutored in reading, math, science and social studies. I have tutored clients independently, as well as through various tutoring companies. I am open to tutoring online or in person.

I worked in MCPS with the common core curriculum for four years, so I am very familiar with common core.

I love English language arts and I want my students to experience the joy and love of learning I have always had. My extensive experience teaching English here and overseas has helped me understand what students need to succeed. I know that students have different strengths and challenges in their studies. My job as a tutor is to use their strengths to help overcome their difficulties. I know how to use a students interests and goals to help motivate them. I also know how to determine a student's particular learning style and map out a plan to help them find academic success.
