I'm Ms. Michele, and I am a certified elementary school teacher. I have been in the field of education since 1999 when I left corporate America after 10 years to join Teach for America, a program for recruiting college graduates to teach in under-served areas. I have taught in the states of New York, Maryland, Georgia, and Arizona. Though I am certified in elementary education as a whole, I do specialize in teaching Reading. Most of my teaching experience has been in this area. I also have my Reading Endorsement as well as a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, I have been trained in Orton-Gillingham Phonics strategies by the Multi-Sensory Institute. This means that I use a lot of different modalities when working with students. I use audio, visual, hands-on, and movement such as arm chopping the word, for example. As a result, I have been successful in helping struggling students learn the foundational skills needed for reading from Kindergarten to 5th grade. I also support students in the area of vocabulary and reading comprehension. Lastly, I wanted to share that I have nine years of experience tutoring students outside of my regular teaching job whom were considered to have learning disabilities or difficulties learning due to some gaps.

I live in the West Valley area with my husband. I am professional and set high expectations for my student's learning. I also am easy to reach, and respond quickly when you reach out to me.
