"I have a teaching degree in English as a Second language. I have taught ESL for 6 years in the K-12 setting. Before that, I substitute taught in the K-12 setting for a year after graduating college. During college, I was a tutor for 2 years where I tutored math, English, Spanish, and history.

I love that tutoring allows me to do my favorite part of teaching: teach! I love helping students reach their goals and learn something new. When a student finally gets a concept they didn't understand or gets that grade they didn't think they could, that is why I tutor.

Although English is what I like to tutor most (not just English language learners, anyone struggling with reading, writing, or grammar), I can tutor in multiple subjects and even study skills. Being a teacher is partly understanding the content, but largely being able to deliver the content in a way that is easy for the student to understand.

I have always been a strong math student. I took advanced math courses in high school and tutored math in college. As an ESL teacher, I have helped my middle and high school students with their math homework and retaught math concepts to them. I have also taught an ESL content-based math course for 4 years at both the middle and high school levels.

I have been a certified ESL teacher for 6 years. I am dedicated to helping English learners develop their English proficiency. As a Spanish as a second language learner, I understand how hard it is to learn another language and what it takes to increase fluency.
