"Hello! My name is Mariah J. I am a certified English Language Arts teacher. My certification is for grades 6 through 12. I am certified in English Language Arts (Reading, Composition, and Grammar) as well as Public Speaking. I also have training in SAT and ACT Preparation. I have spent the last five years teaching high school English and Composition. I also have one year of experience teaching middle school students.

Throughout high school and undergraduate studies in college, I tutored a variety of students. I have experience tutoring all ages -- elementary-aged through college-aged. With elementary-aged students, we worked on phonics, spelling, and fundamental grammar skills. With middle-school-aged and high-school-aged students, I have worked with students on study skills, test preparation, writing, reading, or just improving overall English Language Arts grades. For college-bound high school students, I am available and have experience with SAT preparation and studying. I also have experience working with college students on their writing for English 101/102 classes. I greatly enjoy tutoring as it is exciting to see students become more comfortable with their writing and reading skills as time continues. It's also worthwhile to see students grow as writers and become more confident in their ability to write.
